Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has praised striker Diego Costa after his double helped the Blues to a 6-3 victory over Everton.
The Spaniard got his side off to the perfect start at Goodison Park, finding the net inside the opening minute.
He scored his second in the second half after keeping his composure well to slot past Tim Howard in the Everton goal.
And despite their being seven other goals in one of the craziest Premier League games ever played, Mourinho felt Costa was the difference between the two sides.
“Diego was the man of the match today,” Mourinho said as Chelsea went top.
“He’s a good finisher, he gives us not just that final touch but he also operates defensively.
“In the first half he was tackling Coleman on the edge of our box, he recovered balls, he held the ball up, went face to face with Howard two times and scored two goals – his movement his quality was really good.”
Costa is already impressing Chelsea fans this summer having found the back of the net four times in the Premier League since his move from Atletico Madrid.
And Mourinho will be hoping that the goals continue to flow from the striker as Chelsea look to cement their place at the top of the table.
