Napoli are looking to make a move for AC Milan’s Mario Balotelli, adding some stiff competition in Arsenal’s chase for the player, Daily Star reports.
Arsenal have recently been strongly linked with Balotelli this summer, and Arsene Wenger seems to be in negotiation with the Italian’s agents.
However reports from Italy claim that Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain is set for a switch to Barcelona in order to play alongside Argentina team-mate Lionel Messi.
And if he was to leave, the Partenopei will make Balotelli their number one priority signing in the current transfer window.
The Gunners seemed to be leading the chase after Wenger was willing to spend £25million for the former Manchester City man, as well as holding a meeting with Balotelli’s representatives.
The 24-year-old looks desperate to move out of Italy after constantly receiving racial abuse from his opponents’ fans.
And former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour claims that Wenger is the man that can make the most out of Balotelli’s ability.
He mentioned: “Arsene is a very good man- manager and if you have any sort of problem he’s easy to go and see.”
