Chelsea could be without Didier Drogba for the first half of the new season after he suffered an injury to his ankle in a friendly match against Ferencvaros, Metro reports.
The 26-year-old striker landed badly on his right foot, prompting him to be forced off after only 28 minutes as the Blues eventually saw off their opponents 2-1.
After the match, Drogba came out to reassure everyone that the injury isn’t as bad as it looks.
“I twisted my ankle and I couldn’t continue,’ he said.
“In the next few days we are going to do some treatment and I hope everything will be better.”
However, rumours suggest that after reviewing the extent of his injuries, it is believed that the Ivorian front man had torn his ligaments in his ankle, a blow that could see him out of action for up to six months.
He recently re-signed for Jose Mourinho’s side on a one year deal after he was released by Galatasaray at the end of the previous season.
