Newcastle United midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa could have played his last game for the club after being dragged off at half time in their defeat to Southampton yesterday, according to the Evening Chronicle.
The Frenchman was seen as one of the league’s top midfielders last season but boss Alan Pardew has not found a place for him this season, often used as a substitute or not at all.
Pardew gave Ben Arfa a starting role at St Mary’s yesterday but after a miserable first half showing, the 27 year old was dragged off at the break.
The Toon boss refused to comment on the winger after the game, however a summer departure is on the cards with life at St James’ Park not suiting player or club at the moment.
“I am not really going to talk about individual players. We have to collectively accept we weren’t good enough,” Pardew said.
“The changes were tactical; We had a problem down that side.”
