Newcastle are set to offload Hatem Ben Arfa in the summer after growing frustrated with the attacker, according to reports from the Northern Echo.

The French ace has shown glimpses of his undoubted talent on Tyneside, but has struggled to establish himself due to fitness issues and inconsistent form.

Ben Arfa was tipped to play a prominent role after Yohan Cabaye left last month to join PSG, but it is now said that Alan Pardew has lost patience with him.

The enigmatic star was the subject of much frustration from his manager after a below par performance against Tottenham, in which his work-rate and determination after the 4-0 loss were questioned.

With the 26-year-old set to enter the final year of his deal in the summer, Newcastle are said to be open to selling if they receive a respectable offer for the skilful forward.

Ben Arfa is undoubtedly talented individual, but Pardew is believed to be seeking more desire from his team after a recent slump in results.

Since initially arriving at St James’ Park on loan from Marseille in 2010, the French international has managed just 47 Premier League starts.
