Newcastle United defender Fabricio Coloccini has reiterated he is 100 per cent commited to the North East club, as reported by Sky Sports.

The Argentinean had previously stated that he was desperate to return to his native South America in order to be closer to his family, and former club San Lorenzo have been trying to make the deal happen for over 12 months.

However Coloccini is happy to stay at St James’ Park now and claims that the media are still reporting his quotes from months ago.

Newcastle need their main defender to stand up and be counted with some tough fixtures coming up and Coloccini has vowed to keep his mind solely on helping the team win.

“The press sometimes say things I said months ago, not now,” Coloccini told the Shields Gazette.

“I respect the fans. When I go on to the pitch, I always give 100 per cent for this shirt because they give me lots of love, and I have to say thank you.”
