Newcastle target unsure over summer transfer plans

Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier has admitted that he has no idea where he will be playing next season, as reported by the Evening Chronicle.

The Frenchman has been a long term target of Newcastle boss Alan Pardew and is seen as the long term replacement to Yohan Cabaye – who left the club in January for PSG.

The 23-year-old has been with Lyon since he was a boy but could make an emotional departure this summer.

Roma have submitted a £10million bid for the playmaker and so Newcastle will have to move fast in order to get their man.

Grenier is focusing on the World Cup where he is pushing to make a real impact for France, but knows after Brazil he will need to make a decision on his future.

“My agent knows I love being close to the information that is circulating around me so I am able to make sense of things,” Grenier said.

“I do not know what Lyon want to do with me. Whether they want me to stay or go. I am still under contract at Lyon for the moment.”
