Newcastle United are reportedly close to signing French striker Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon, talkSPORT reports.
The Ligue-1 club have recently rejected Newcastle’s offer for the attacker, telling the Magpies that the 23-year-old is not for sale.
However according to talkSPORT correspondent Graham Courtney, Lyon are holding up for a higher price but it is expected that Lacazette will be a Newcastle player when the transfer window closes at 11 pm tonight.
“Newcastle look like they have got one deal over the line,” he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show.
“Even though Lyon are playing hard to get, it looks like Newcastle will sign Alexander Lacazette. I believe that will happen. He’s French so he will fit in at Newcastle!”
The Lyon forward has earlier been a target for Liverpool, but dropped their interest after the capture of AC Milan star Mario Balotelli.
Lacazette scored 22 goals in all competitions for Lyon last season.
