Manuel Pellegrini praised the performance of Joe Hart following Manchester City’s 2-1 win over Liverpool, claiming the England goalkeeper is back to his best, reports Sky Sports.

Hart lost his place to Costel Pantilimon after a series of early season mistakes, but Pellegrini has restored him to the starting line up for the past three games.

He proved his worth yesterday with a series of important saves, as City ran out 2-1 winners in an enthralling encounter at the Etihad, and Pellegrini afterwards insisted he had no doubts he would return to form.

“I was very pleased with Joe, not only today but all the games in the last month,” said Pellegrini.

“He’s worked very hard for a month and a half and now he’s back to his best because he’s the best goalkeeper in England.”

Pellegrini also had words of praise for his defence, as City held off a threatening Liverpool side in the second half to maintain their perfect home record this season.

“I am very happy with the response because it is not easy when you face such a difficult team, especially on the counter-attack when you are losing 1-0,” he said.

“I think today we defended very well.”

“They did very well, especially against Suarez.

“He is a great striker. He is in his best moment so it was very difficult for our team not to lose one second in the whole match.”
