It appears that Premier League clubs are set to miss out on long term transfer target Christian Eriksen after the midfielder was offered a new long term deal at Ajax, according to talkSPORT.

Eriksen has been linked with a move to Tottenham and Manchester United in the past 18 months but it seems his future could be tied up in the coming days.

The 20-year-old is thought of as one of the hottest prospects in European football and Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also interested in the Danish international.

Eriksen has already made over 100 career appearances, which is impressive at such a young age, and he rejected moves to major European clubs in 2008 in the hope of first team football in Amsterdam.

Widely considered as a selling club, Ajax often develop numerous talented youngsters before gaining a huge profit on them but it seems they want to keep Eriksen for as long as they possibly can.

While there is no guarantee the midfielder will sign the new contract, Ajax are hopeful his best years are to come at the Amsterdam Arena.
