Both Everton and Newcastle are believed to be in a bidding war over Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend after a string of solid performances for both club and country, Mirror reports.
Roberto Martinez has been monitoring Townsend ever since last year’s transfer window, when a loan move was denied by his parent club.
He now adds the 22-year-old to his Toffees shopping list, joining other potential targets such as Queens Park Rangers’ Loic Remy and Swansea’s Wilfried Bony.
Magpies boss Alan Pardew is also said to be targeting the speedy winger to add to his ranks, but the player seemingly wants to remain at White Hart Lane despite having very limited playing time under Tim Sherwood.
Ahead of him in the pecking order is Aaron Lennon, who was the regular starter, as well as Erik Lamela, who missed out through injury but is set to make his much anticipated return to the Spurs starting line up next season.
Townsend played a role in helping England qualify for the World Cup earlier in the campaign, yet he missed out on a spot in the national squad after picking up a six-week injury last month.
