The big spending French club are hoping to bring either Cabaye or Roma playmaker Miralem Pjanic to the club this month and claim talks have already started about both players, something that Roma have disputed.
Newcastle are desperate to keep their main man but PSG’s big financial incentive could be hard to turn down and Cabaye himself may want to push through a move back to France with his place in the World Cup squad not yet guaranteed.
Pjanic is of a similar type to Cabaye and PSG want to sign one of the two but insist they don’t have a preference, although Blanc confirms that negotiations have started with both Newcastle and Roma.
“Cabaye and Pjanic are actually two our targets, they are two players we want,” Blanc said.
“They are similar; they have the same profile of a very technical midfielder.
“There are two alternatives; there is no choice of number one or number two.
“There are negotiations ongoing, but it’s hard to complete them in January. I would be very happy to have a midfielder.”
