Press Conference QPR

QPR manager Mark Hughes has denied that his side have made a bid for Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov.

The Bulgarian forward has fallen behind Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez in Sir Alex Ferguson’s preferences, and as such has admitted that it may well be his time to leave Old Trafford.

Links to Galatasaray and other European clubs have been frequent in the press this summer, with QPR also thought to be interested.

The Loftus Road club are eager to strengthen their squad after their final day Premier League survival in 2011-12, but Hughes has stated that a move for Berbatov has not been made.

"There are a lot of names flying around,” the Welsh trainer confessed to Sky Sports.

"That is a new one on me, in fairness.

"At this time of year, there are a lot of names flying around. But we prefer to get the job done, get the business done, and then we announce it."
