QPR Boss Slams Paper Talk
Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has reacted angrily to a report in Saturday’s newspapers that his team were on a ‘lad’s holiday’ in Dubai last week.
Rangers were taking part in a warm weather training session along with four or five other Premier League clubs last week but one newspaper claimed that the players were out on the drink all week and done hardly any work.
Redknapp had his say in his post-match interview after Rangers’ vital victory away at fellow Premier League strugglers Southampton that could kick start a late survival push.
Despite clearly being delighted with a win at his former club, Redknapp struggled to speak about anything else aside from the Dubai story that stole the headlines leading up to the game.
The former Portsmouth and Tottenham boss has felt the need to explain what really happened in the middle-east last week and slam the individual newspaper.
“It was a disgusting story in the paper,” Redknapp told The Independent.
“It was completely full of untruths.
“I took the team away. We arrived at five o’clock in the morning at a hotel in Dubai, trained that morning.
“We trained every morning I was there. We were on the bus at 8.30am for training; we never missed a training session. We were the only club over there that trained every day.
“I let the players have one night out with about four or five other teams out with them that night.
“That was the only night they went out and the next morning they trained. They never missed a session.
“I know where the story come from, I know who done the story and they are trying to make problems for the football club. I know exactly where it has come from.”
