Queens Park Rangers have placed a third bid to sign Porto defender Rolando this month according to the Daily Mirror.

Rangers are set to lose Ryan Nelson in the coming weeks as he moves to a managerial role in the MLS and the likes of Anton Ferdinand and Clint Hill are struggling to shut out Premier League attacks.

Rolando has twice rejected a move to West London, firstly when Mark Hughes was in charge and more recently when Harry Redkanpp arrived in November.

A third and final bid may be enough to persuade the Portuguese club and player to accept after Rangers showed they mean business with the £8million signing of Loic Remy this week.

The 27-year-old has been extremely successful with Porto and may now look for a move abroad with Italian improvers Napoli also rumoured to have made a bid for the central defender.

Rolando’s move to Loftus Road along with the possible purchase of Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila would completely revamp the spine of the Premier League strugglers.
