Liverpool youngster Raheem Sterling has tweeted an apology to Wigan midfielder Ben Watson after the latter suffered a broken leg after a tackle between the pair.

Watson’s shin took the full impact from Sterling and the former Crystal Palace captain was helped off of the pitch and taken to hospital.

Scans have since shown that Watson did break a bone in his leg and looks set to be out for the majority of the season.

Sterling, who was instrumental in Liverpool’s 3-0 win at Anfield, was quick to apologise to Watson and clearly showed remorse for the way the incident occurred.

“To Ben Watson I didn’t realise it was serious as that ill be praying for a speedy recovery mate ill have you in my prayers every day #sorry” Sterling tweeted after the game yesterday.
