Croatian midfielder Modric

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has dismissed rumours that he will join Manchester United in January, as reported by Sky Sports News.

The former Tottenham playmaker has been heavily linked with a move back to the Premier League this winter, but the Croatia international has claimed that he wants to stay at Madrid for at least another four years.

The 28 year old struggled to adapt to life in La Liga when he originally arrived in the Spanish capital last summer but the midfield man is now one of the first names on the team sheet under Carlo Ancelotti and has been arguably their best player so far this season.

A move to Manchester United is always hard to turn down but Modric is confident that he will be at Real in four years’ time when he is 32.

“I have no doubt that the best thing that ever happened to me in football is to play in Madrid,” he told Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti.

“Where will I be in four years? Here. Besides being a great club, my family feels amazing in Madrid.

“In football it is difficult to plan, but if you ask me, I would like to retire in Madrid. With titles, of course.”
