Arsenal look to reignite their chase for Real Madrid ace Sami Khedira after he revealed that he would accepted reduced wages to join the club, Daily Star reports.

The German international refused to extend his contract with the La Liga giants due to lack of playing time last season as he could be facing further setbacks after the Spanish side completed the signing of midfielders Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez.

Arsene Wenger has previously made a move to sign the World Cup winning star, but was halted by his high wage demands, a factor Khedira is now likely to fix.

He was believed to want wages between the regions of £150,000-£160,000-a-week, but could now be open to only £135,000-a-week in order to make his switch to the English Premier League.

The 27-year-old defensive midfielder looks as though he has made this decision after news that the Gunners boss was looking for alternatives, with Morgan Schneiderlin and Lars Bender likely candidates.

Khedira would add a lot to Arsenal, but it’s hard to know if Arsenal will come back in for him after such a long, fruitless chase. Khedira is facing a real (and a Real) dilemma because there are not so many clubs out there willing to pay wages in the same stratosphere as Khedira is asking. The market for him is basically Arsenal, perhaps Man U, and perhaps Monaco. Liverpool would be a big stretch, especially with Gerrard not ready to hang up his worn out boots just yet, but they could afford him if they wanted to.

his other alternative is to sit the bench for a year and move next summer on a free transfer. It would be easier to get clubs to pay £150,000 wages if there’s no transfer fee. Arsenal, however, will not pay Khedira that mugh. No now. I hope this rumor is true because Khedira would improve the club.
