Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp has hailed Fulham’s signing of Dimitar Berbatov from Manchester United as the best of the season.

Berbatov has already notched five times for the Cottagers in just ten games and Fulham are seemingly a much stronger team when he is playing.

Redknapp showed his envy towards Martin Jol for being able to call on such a talented striker with QPR sitting bottom of the Premier League and desperate for their first win of the season.

The two West London clubs meet today at Loftus Road and a victory for Berbatov and co would not just sink the knife into Redknapp and QPR but could move Jol’s side up to 8th in the Premier League and a whopping 16 points clear of Rangers.

Redknapp may well be surprised that bigger clubs did not swoop for Berbatov in the summer, but he now has to focus on securing him some talented players in the January transfer window as well as improving his current underperforming players.

“I thought he was the signing of the summer, I was surprised more teams didn’t go for him,” Redknapp told The Sun.

“I think he could play for any team in the country. There’s not a team he’s not good enough to play in.”
