Everton manager Roberto Martinez believes his team can achieve ‘special things’ this season and keep their form going, as reported by talkSPORT.

The Toffees have impressed under Martinez and are fifth in the league, pushing the bigger sides all the way in a battle for the top four or maybe more.

Everton’s win at Old Trafford in midweek emphasised the change at the club in recent months since Martinez too charge and they could close the gap on leaders Arsenal today with a win at the Emirates.

While the title may be a bit ambitious, Martinez feels his side can make the top four despite the quality of opposition at the top of the table.

“The league is going to be fascinating this season,” Martinez said.

“You are looking at six, seven teams that have a great opportunity to fight for the top four and we will look to fulfil our potential. If we do that at the end of the season, we can achieve special things.

“It is wide open. It was going to be like that due to the amount of changes at the teams that were expected to challenge for the title. There was a big turnaround with managers.

“If you can take the opportunity to get as many points as you can, maybe it can be a different season, to get a team in the top six that wasn’t meant to be.”
