Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has expressed interest in former Liverpool winger Nabil El Zhar and hopes to secure his signature in the summer, according to The Mirror.

El Zhar is currently playing for Spanish club Levante and is available on a free transfer when his contract expires this summer.

The Moroccan international, who has scored 3 goals this season, used to play for Liverpool in 2006 and despite starting his Anfield career well he was released by the club in 2011 after a series of injuries.

Martinez wants to reunite the El Zhar with his former team-mate Aroune Kone and reform their partnership from their days at Levante together. Wigan are left with a void to fill after the departure of Victor Moses to Chelsea and Martinez believes that El Zhar will help with that as well as teaming up with Kone to score more goals.

Wigan are also amongst several clubs including Sunderland watching winger Andre Carvalhas. The Portuguese plays with Spanish team Naval after signing with them on a free transfer last year. The 23 year-old has been impressive so far this season and has already scored 7 goals and he would be a great addition for Wigan.
