Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes Tottenham are still very much in the title race, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Spurs are down in sixth, three points adrift of Liverpool, but that could all change when the pair meet at White Hart Lane this afternoon.

Rodgers has been impressed with the job Andre Villas Boas has done both on and off the pitch this season, investing heavily in the squad this summer.

The Tottenham squad is on the whole a lot stronger than last season but the Gareth Bale shaped hole is still evident.

AVB has come under fire at times with a handful of new signings struggling initially but the Liverpool manager puts Spurs among the title contenders.

‘People look at Spurs and question how they’ve done but I think they’ve done terrifically,’ Rodgers said.

‘They have a strong and deep squad and they are right up there in the league.

‘There are six or seven teams involved in the race for the top four.

‘Everyone will look at Manchester City as having the outstanding squad but Tottenham will look at what they have spent and they will give themselves a chance of maybe winning the title.”
