official website that midfielder Scott Parker will be sidelined until September after undergoing surgery on an injured Achilles.

The England international has been harbouring the niggle for quite some time and did not travel on Spurs’ pre-season tour of the United States as he was been assessed by the White Hart Lane medical team.

After consultation the midfielder was deemed to need surgery to remedy the problem, which he has successfully undergone.

Spurs expect their talismanic battler to be back in training in the international break in September, and will have to do without his service for the first three games of the season against Newcastle, West Brom and Norwich at least.
