Three teams from the Serie A are rumoured to be monitoring Newcastle defender Davide Santon, with Fiorentina leading the race to acquire his services, TalkSPORT reports.

The left back has often been linked with a return to Italy after beginning his senior career with Inter Milan and this time, Fiorentina are keen to lure him to Florence, but are said to not be willing to meet the £10-million price tag the Magpies have set for him.

AC Milan as well as Roma have also declared their interest in the Italian star but have yet to make solid offer for Santon, who has made eight international appearances for his national side.

Santon has been one of the few bright sparks during an underwhelming campaign for the Magpies, playing left-back in Alan Pardew’s back-four.

The 23-year-old moved to England back in 2011 playing a total of 93 matches in all competitions but only managing to bag one goal in his three years at the club.
