AS Roma are looking to steal Xherdan Shaqiri from Liverpool’s grasps, with the Serie A side beginning negotiations with Bayern Munich, Daily Star reports.
Reports in Italy suggests that the capital club have begun talks with Bayern in order to bring the Swiss international to the Stadio Olimpico, with a £15million bid being mooted.
Shaqiri was in fine form for Switzerland during the World Cup, in which his side only lost out to a 118th minute strike against semi-finalists Argentina in the Round of 16.
The 22-year-old is looking for a move away from the Allianz Arena in search of first-team football after falling down the Bayern pecking order.
The former Basel star was believed to be a target of Liverpool, with the Reds reportedly making a £15million bid before the World Cup as well.
It is however unknown whether Roma accepted Liverpool’s offer, but will not want to lose another target to Roma after seeing Chelsea legend Ashley Cole swap the Premier League for Serie A.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers lodged a late bid in the attempts to hijack Cole’s Giallorossi transfer, but the Englishman already decided to play in the peninsula.
