Southampton have signed Algerian international Saphir Taider on a loan swap deal from Inter Milan with Dani Osvaldo moving to the Serie A, Daily Mail reports.
The 22-year-old midfielder completed the switch on a season-long loan after passing his medical and should he impress Saints boss Ronald Koeman, can make the move permanent with a fee of about £7million.
His manager said: “It’s our philosophy to bring in talented young players who like to learn and develop, and that’s true of Saphir.
“I’ve spoken to him about the positions he can play. It was a good meeting – he showed me real ambition.
“Taider brings quality and we need that. We need competition in the squad as well and that will be good.”
Osvaldo has also confirmed his move to Inter Milan on loan and like Taider, can also seal a permanent switch to the Serie A for a fee of around £6million.
