New Southampton signing Fraser Forster is ready to be given his debut in this weekend’s Premier League opener against Liverpool after completing a move from Celtic, Daily Star reports.
The 26-year-old is considered as England’s third choice keeper, but will likely be given the number one spot ahead of Artur Boruc.
His new manager Ronald Koeman has put full faith into his newest addition by saying: “He will have the best years of his career at Southampton.”
Forster signed for the Saints with a fee of £10million and has agreed terms with the club over a four-year contract.
The goalkeeper was in superb form for his former club, setting a new Scottish league record for consecutive clean sheets with a tally of 13 matches and 1,256 minutes.
He was one of the top targets for Koeman who is now beginning to spend his huge transfer funds gained from selling many of his sides top stars.
