Southampton defender Dejan Lovren has hit out at his club after they turned down a £20million bid from Liverpool for his services.

The Croatian was unaware of the bid until he found out through his agent, with the Saints immediately rejecting the offer without consulting their defender.

The south coast club have already lost Rickie Lambert, Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana this summer along with boss Mauricio Pochettino and so are doing all they can to prevent an exodus.

Lovren though is furious at being kept at the club against his will and claims he no longer has anything to do with Southampton.

“Liverpool made an offer, and the club didn’t report it to me. Even after that, about the new Liverpool deals. It was not fair,” Lovren told Croatian paper Jutarnji List.

“I learned about the offer from other people, it really hit me and I realised that I no longer have anything to do with Southampton. Liverpool has sent an offer of £20million, and they paid me £9million, they would have made more than twice.

“At this point I do not know what I will do and I do not like that. And indeed it was unbelievable that a few days ago they agreed to an offer of £20million.

It was in the morning and in the afternoon they said that I’m not on sale? Frankly, my head is in Liverpool. Anyway, I sent a letter to the club where I said all this I told you.”

Lovren is a spoilt brat. He has several years left on his contract. If he had broken his leg at the world cup, would he still be wanting nothing to do with Southampton and would he refuse his wages whilst recovering. Contracts work both ways. He is acting like a five year old. He did the same in the away game at Spurs last season! Southampton are better off without him but have every right to hold out for the best price they can get for him from Liverpool or elsewhere

Lovren signed a four year contract when he joined Saints. Surely the club also has a right to be furious with his attitude to that contract. Saints do not have to accept any offers for him and do not have to tell him either. He is under contract and should shut up and get on with it. I would make him play in the reserves.

Who the hell dies he think he is? Quoted elsewhere as saying club no longer has any ambition. How does he know. Has he spoken to Ronald Koeman or the new chairman? NO HE HASN’T. Well he can sod off, but Saints can ask exactly what they want for his signature. In case he’s forgotten, he’s contracted to us for 3 more years!
