Southampton are preparing to table their second offer to sign Andros Townsend after their initial bid of £10million was rejected by Tottenham Hotspur, Mirror reports.

Ronald Koeman still has adequate funds available after selling a majority of the Saints’ starting eleven over the summer, and is still trying to add reinforcements to his side before the close of the transfer window.

The 23-year-old winger may not get a lot of playing time under Mauricio Pochettino and has been linked with a number of domestic clubs over the past few months.

However, a deal is highly unlikely after Spurs were constantly rejected by Koeman’s side over a potential move for Morgan Schneiderlin as well as Jay Rodriguez.

With a move to see the French central midfielder go to White Hart Lane not happening, it is believed that Pochettino will return the favour by rejected any bids for Townsend.

Wouldnt mind keeping him, just wish he’d stop shooting so much or score more often in relation to how many shots he takes.

If only the two sides would get together and thrash out a couple of deals. I am not even that fussed at missing out on Schneiderlin, if he is seen as pivotal to Southampton’s season…but it would be good to arrange a swap, or part-swap for Rodriguez, if possible.
