Southampton has sacked their manager Nigel Adkins this morning, after two and a half seasons at St Marys.

The former Scunthorpe manager has overseen two successive promotions for the Saints; however Southampton’s indifferent start to the Premier League has forced the owners’ hands in relinquishing his services.

The Saints have already found Adkins successor in appointing Espanyol manager, Mauricio Pochettino, who will be in charge of his first game against Everton on Monday.
