Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is said to be preparing an £8million bid to sign Alvaro Gonzalez from Lazio, in his attempts to reinforce his squad after seeing a majority of players leave during the summer, Mirror reports.
The 29-year-old featured in all of his nations World Cup games and could become the eight new signing at the St Mary’s Stadium as the manager will try to add more players before the close of the window.
Despite receiving close to £100million from their exodus of stars, the newly appointed boss has only spent £47million, but is still looking to add a few more players to his squad.
Koeman said: “We are still looking to sign one or two more players including a winger.”
Gonzalez, who is usually deployed as a central midfielder or at right midfield with his versatility, could also be used as cover to Nathaniel Clyne at right back after seeing Calum Chambers join Arsenal.
