Former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes is close to making a move to Liverpool after agreeing personal terms with the Merseyside club, Express reports.
The Reds were heavily linked with a move for several goalkeepers to challenge number one Simon Mignolet after the release of Pepe Reina during the summer, and now manager Brendan Rodgers is set to bring Valdes to Anfield.
The 32-year-old was looking to leave Barcelona at the middle of last season, but then suffered a knee injury that kept him in the second half of the campaign.
This made it difficult for the Spain international to find a new club, with Monaco pulling out of the move despite reports a contract has already been signed.
Valdes was therefore hoping he could remain for another year with Barcelona, but manager Luis Enrique made it clear that he was not needed by signing Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Claudio Bravo.
Even with Valdes expected to not be fully fit until November, Rodgers is keen to sign the goalkeeper and conclude Liverpool’s transfer business.
