Spanish giants join fight for English starlet

Southampton defender Luke Shaw is being watched by Spanish giants Real Madrid, reports the Mirror.

The English youngster has been heavily linked with both Manchester United and Chelsea, after some consistently impressive performances for the Saints.

But now Carlo Ancelotti is ready to throw his hat into the ring, as he looks to beat the Premier League duo to the signing of the 18-year-old. The left-back is also being linked with a flight to Brazil, with pundits calling for him to be part of England’s World Cup squad.

Former Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is the favourite to sign Shaw for Chelsea, with the defender publicly stating he was a boyhood Chelsea fan. Shaw has been tipped to be Ashley Cole’s replacement in the Blues squad, with the experienced Englishman currently being forced to watch from the sidelines as right-back Cesar Azpilicueta plays on the left hand side.

But Real Madrid are ready to battle with Chelsea and United, and bring Shaw to the Bernabeu, where he would link up with fellow Southampton academy product Gareth Bale, now the most expensive player in the world. Southampton are expected to struggle to keep hold of the highly-wanted left-back this summer.
