Liverpool look set to miss out on a January loan move for Barcelona attacker Cristian Tello, although a summer move is not out of the question, according to the Metro.
The 22-year-old has been consistently linked with a move away from the Catalan giants in recent months, with Liverpool making no secret of their interest.
Tello has found first team football hard to come by for Gerardo Martino’s side, managing just 13 appearances in all competitions since the start of the season.
The youngster has been hoping to sneak into the Spain squad for the summer’s World Cup, but that is looking continually unlikely.
Reports had suggested he would look to complete a loan move to Anfield this month to stake his claim, but Tello has put those rumours to bed, by insisting he will be staying at Barcelona – for the time being at least.
‘I will definitely stay at Barcelona until June, then we will see in the summer,’ said the youngster.
Despite a move looking unlikely this month, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has been a long term admirer of the Spaniard, and is likely to reignite his interest in the summer.
