We may be lucky enough to have a certain tournament over in Brazil to fill the gap between the football seasons this summer, but the wait is always long and painful.
It’s roughly 100 days between the moment Vincent Kompany lifted the Premier League title at the Etihad to the moment the first whistle is blown in the 2014/2015 season.
That’s around 100 days of transfer window rumours, silly season, your best players leaving and the worst ones staying. The manager you want to be sacked told he’s staying. The manager you want to keep told to pack his bags.
Your club wasting £15million on an injured player. Your manager refusing to spend at all. Your left-back handing in a transfer request, the fans getting excited over a made up rumour of Cristiano Ronaldo fancying a bit time by the seaside in Blackpool.
Or how about 100 days of complete sadness. Nothing to watch other than reviews of seasons past. Remembering the good ol’ days as you try and forget the bad ones you’ve just experienced. Or perhaps you’ll spend the entire summer watching re-runs of how your club ended a nine-year trophy drought by struggling to beat Hull City at Wembley?
It’s a long ol’ summer. But nothing a Carlsberg can’t sort out…
