Steve Bruce has denied attempting to re-sign Fraizer Campbell to Hull City from his former club, Sunderland.

The Black Cats previous manager has been linked with several players on Wearside and has already moved to snap up Ahmed Elmohamady on a season long loan from the Stadium of Light.

Speaking to the Hull Daily Mail the ex Manchester United centre half said, “As far as I’m aware Frazier is not available to loan at present.

“If he was available, of course we would ask the question, but at this time that is not the case.”

Campbell is likely to be kept on at Sunderland until January at least, manager Martin O’Neill has discussed using the Football League loan system to give players first team opportunities but will probably keep the 24 year old.

The former Tiger netted 15 times when on loan at the KC Stadium, but having played a part in Sunderland’s opening two Premier League fixtures is likely to remain at the Stadium of Light.

More inexperienced frontmen Ji Dong Won and Connor Wickham however may be lined up for loan deals having dropped further down the pecking order following Louis Saha and Steven Fletcher’s arrival.
