Stoke substitute Oussama Assaidi slammed home a late strike to give the home side a stunning 3-2 win against Chelsea at the Britannia Stadium.
It was all Chelsea at the beginning of the match, with some early pressure resulting in an Andre Schurrle goal, as the German was allowed to coast through the Stoke defence and bury a shot in the bottom corner.
However, despite the early pressure from Mourinho’s men, Chelsea were unable to capitalise on Schurrle’s strike and allowed Peter Crouch to equalise on the stroke of half time. Crouch’s shot made its way through a packed out penalty area and past Petr Cech, whose positioning was way off as the shot came in.
After the break Stephen Ireland was able to put the home side in front after curling an effort past Cech, but it was only moments until Chelsea got back into the match through Schurrle again, who smashed his strike in from the edge of the area. The German came close to a hat-trick but was unable to direct his well struck effort past Begovic. Ireland also had a chance to to put Stoke ahead but somehow managed to spurn the ball over the bar from inside the area.
At 2-2 it looked like Chelsea were going to grab a point but Assaidi had other ideas, cutting onto his right foot and unleashing a thumping strike into the top corner.
