As reported by The Sunday Post, Scotland boss Gordon Strachan is set to rest Celtic's key internationalists this Wednesday in a match against Canada at Easter Road.

What's the story?

Five first team Celtic stars have been called up to Strachan's squad for the matches against Canada and Slovenia over the coming week but the ex-Hoops manager has made a big decision about their involvement.

All five featured for the Bhoys against Dundee on Sunday and the Scotland manager reckons that rules them out of possibly appearing against the Canadians in 2 days time.

As quoted by The Sunday Post, Strachan said:

The Celtic players that start today probably won’t play against Canada. I’ve spoken to Brendan and the people at Celtic about that. I want to start the preparations for Canada on Monday morning and it’s hard to ask the Celtic players to have a game, then start training and thinking about another game straight away. Physically and mentally, you just cannot do it.

That's a big boost to Celtic supporters and Brendan Rodgers, who will likely want their stars as fresh as possible when they return after the international break.

However most if not all of the group, Kieran Tierney, Scott Brown, Stuart Armstrong, James Forrest and Craig Gordon, could feature this Sunday when the Scottish side take on Slovenia in a massive World Cup Qualifier at Hampden.

For the likes of Stuart Armstrong it is a massive opportunity. He's never represented his country before and winning a cap will be a huge landmark in his burgeoning career.
