Sunderland manager Gus Poyet feels it is too early to talk about any of his squad leaving the Stadium of Light this summer, as reported by Sky Sports.

The Black Cats are seven points adrift of safety after yesterday’s defeat at home to Everton and despite having two games in hand in their rivals, they look doomed.

Midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini has been linked with a move back to Italy, with a number of Premier League clubs also after the cut price Sunderland flop who was rated so highly at Juventus.

Poyet feels it is too soon to speak about the future of his players, despite speculation mounting in recent weeks.

“It’s too soon to be talking about that because nobody knows really,” Poyet told the Sunderland Echo.

“I’m surprised they’re talking about it so early, because the season isn’t finished.”

Poyet’s job has also come under fire after taking over the club from Paolo Di Canio in a better state than they are now.
