Swansea brought a halt to West Brom's flying start to the season with a devastating first half performance at the Liberty Stadium.

The Baggies had risen to third in the Premier League table prior to their trio to South Wales but were brought down a peg or two by Michael Laudrup's side score three times before the break to secure victory.

Steve Clarke has had few problems to deal with since taking over from Roy Hodgson, guiding the club to four straight top-flight wins for the first time since 1980, and will hope this is just a minor blip.

It come as no surprise that the visitors success this term has been built on solid foundations at the back, given Clarke was a defender himself, but even he wouldn't have been able to quell the Swans as they turned in an irresistible display, orchestrated by summer signing Pablo Hernandez.

The Spaniard was the star of the show and teed up the opener for leading scorer Michu after nine minutes, knocking Nathan Dyer's cross back into the six-yard area for the striker to bundle his ninth goal of the season past Boaz Myhill.

Hernandez was involved again two minutes later as the home side doubled their lead, jinking his way past two defenders before squaring for Wayne Routledge to fire home from close range after Jonas Olsson failed to clear.

West Brom were powerless to resist and found themselves three down as half time loomed when Routledge calmly slotted the ball home after being teed up by Ben Davies.

But, having created nothing during the first half, Clarkes men clawed their way back into the game when Romelu Lukaku blasted Chris Brunt's corner past Gerhard Tremmel. However, Swansea held firm in the second half and have now lost just once in their last eight games.
