Wayne Rooney

Paris Saint Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has urged Wayne Rooney to join him in the French capital in January, as reported by Sky Sports.

The Manchester United striker wanted out of Old Trafford in the summer but the Red Devils’ new boss David Moyes demanded that forward stayed and bids were rejected from both Arsenal and Chelsea.

PSG were rumoured to be interested in the England international but the mega rich French club opted to sign Edinson Cavani from Napoli to partner Ibrahimovic instead.

Ibrahimovic however believes that Rooney could still come to France in either January or next summer as PSG are the club to be at in Europe right now.

“When there was talk of Rooney joining us in Paris it was a prospect that excited me,” Ibrahimovic said.

“I think he made it clear in the summer that he wanted a fresh challenge – and things have not been going so well for Manchester United this season.

“If he still wants to move next summer, or in January, I would urge him to come and play with me in Paris. The only direction this club is going is up.”
