One of the best Premier League seasons came to a slightly lacklustre end today but Manchester City ran out deserved winners.

West Ham didn’t put up much fight but City just had too much class today and have done all season long – with Liverpool’s surprise factor arguably getting them by in a number of games.

Here is why we think City deserve to be crowned Champions once again this season.

Defence

City have been strong at the back this season, something that has evidently been Liverpool’s downfall.

Vincent Kompany has led by example as always and is among the best central defenders in world football, with Martin Demichelis improving no end as the season has gone on.

Joe Hart in behind them is back to his best too and while their attacking players get the credit, the defenders have been impressive.

Strength in depth

Manchester City have had to deal with a Champions League and Capital One Cup campaign as well as the Premier League – something that Liverpool have not had to worry about.

City can replace their entire 11 and still have a strong team, with all the talk of B teams in the Football League it would probably be a C team for the Sky Blues.

Four top class strikers and a whole host of midfield options is something that the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool have missed this season.

Summer signings

Fernandinho has got to be up there with one of the best signings of the summer and Martin Demichelis has turned into a vital cog in their game.

Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure have taken all the plaudits but Manuel Pellegrini’s work last summer has to be applauded and is something that other clubs such as Manchester United really struggled with.

It is all well and good saying that they have all the money – but you have to spend it well.
