Christian Benteke

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal will have to fight off interest from Spain and Germany to sign Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke according to The Sun.

Both Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are set to lose their main strikers in the summer and so will make a move for Benteke to be their saviour.

Benteke joined Villa for £8million in the summer and will now cost at least double that after his impressive adaptations to the Premier League.

The Belgian has already notched 15 times this season and appears happy to make the next step in his career if the big clubs come calling.

Spurs are desperate to sign another striker after their current forwards Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor have not been the reliable goal threat that was first thought.

The North London club missed out on a striker in January, much to Andre Villas-Boas’ frustration, and so will make a goalscorer their prime target for the close season.
