Tottenham have joined to the race to sign talented Serbian midfielder Radosav Petrovic from Partizan Belgrade.

Spurs are thought to have shown interest in Petrovic, but will face stern competition from Sevilla and Fiorentina to land the 21-year old.

Tottenham have one of the biggest squads in the Premier League so any new arrivals could only be sanctioned should squad players such as David Bentley and Niko Kranjcar be sold on in January.

But with injuries hitting Spurs hard this season and Wilson Palacios looking a shadow of his former self the 6ft 3 box to box midfield player could provide just the spark Spurs need to maintain a title challenge. Petrovic’s contract with Partizan expires in 2013 and it is believed he would only cost Spurs around €4 million.

Petrovic has scored an impressive seven goals in 13 goals for Partizan this season and has been a major part in getting them to the top of the Serbian Super Liga.
