Tottenham Hotspur are still refusing to negotiate a deal for Andros Townsend after Southampton rejected their move to sign Morgan Schneiderlin, putting the English winger’s career in jeopardy, The Guardian reports.
The 23-year-old believes that his place in the squad under Mauricio Pochettino will be quite limited and is said to be open over a potential move to the St Mary’s Stadium.
However, with Ronald Koeman refusing to sell Schneiderlin, Pochettino is hitting back at his former club by halting any moves to sign his player as well.
Townsend is now stuck in the crossfire as his role at White Hart Lane remains unclear despite only recently signing a four-year deal, but has now fallen down the pecking order behind the likes of Nacer Chadli, Christian Eriksen, and Erik Lamela.
A switch to join the Saints would mean he could be given a much larger role with the club when compared with the competition for spots he currently has with Spurs.
