Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton look to have finally ended their silent treatment ahead of transfer deadline day as they begin negotiations over a potential swap deal involving Andros Townsend and Jay Rodriguez, Daily Mail reports.
With Mauricio Pochettino needing another striker at White Hart Lane, he will attempt to lure his former player, who impressed him during his time at St Mary’s.
Saints manager Ronald Koeman was also eyeing the likes of Townsend throughout the summer but was unable to begin talks after Spurs rejected any offers when he refused to sell Morgan Schneiderlin to them.
However, with less than a day left before the window closes, both teams are now in talks over the swap deal where both team could benefit from one another.
Both players involved in the switch are currently valued at about £12 – £14million, but should anything happen to halt the move, Pochettino is also closing in on Manchester United’s Danny Welbeck after the English international is said to be allowed to leave.
