Tottenham Hotspur are looking to swap Roberto Soldado for Roma striker Mattia Destro, Express reports.
Spurs are extremely keen to bring the Italian to White Hart Lane this summer, but the Serie A side are reluctant to offload Destro in a straight swap deal.
Roma are yet to be impressed by Soldado during his time at Spurs, and sporting director Walter Sabini is set to ask manager Rudi Garcia if the Spaniard has the quality to fit into his side.
The London club are however boosted by the fact Wolfsburg, their main rivals for Destro’s signature, have recently signed former Arsenal man Niklas Bendtner, paving the way for a possible switch.
If a swap deal does not come to fruition, the Tottenham hierarchy are still set to pursue the 23-year-old by any means necessary.
Tottenham beat West Ham 1-0 in the first Premier League game of the season, but head coach Mauricio Pochettino is desperate to bring a striker with only Soldado, Emmanuel Adebayor, and Harry Kane currently available up front.
Chelsea are also reportedly interested in Destro, with Didier Drogba set to miss the beginning of the campaign with an ankle problem.
