Inter Milan have set their sights on Tottenham flop Erik Lamela, as the club plan a major summer over-haul, reports the Express.
The club’s new owner Erick Thohir has identified the Argentine winger as a top transfer target, along with Arsenal and Liverpool target Alvaro Morata, in addition to the signing of Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic on a free transfer.
Thohir is looking to radically overhaul Inter’s ageing squad, and reports in Italy suggest Lamela and Morata are at the top of the Indonesian businessmen’s list.
He sees Lamela and Morata as the ideal complement to 20-year-old attacker Mauro Icardo, who was signed from Sampdoria in the summer.
Lamela became Tottenham’s record signing in the summer, after signing for £30million from Roma.
The 21-year-old was billed as the replacement for Gareth Bale, but he has hardly featured for Tottenham this season after struggling to adapt to the Premier League.
He was linked with a loan move to Italy or Spain in the January transfer window, before Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood expressed his desire to keep him, insisting he has confidence he will adapt to the English game over time.
Morata meanwhile was heavily linked with both Liverpool and Arsenal during the January transfer window, before opting to stay and continue his development at Real Madrid, despite the lack of first team opportunities.
