Chelsea and Manchester City have received a blow in their chase for West Ham ace Aaron Cresswell, who signed a new five year deal with the club, according to reports from talkSPORT.

Cresswell was heavily linked with a move away from Upton Park following an impressive season with the Hammers, with the Premier League champions and City both keen on his services.

The Blues are likely to lose Filipe Luis in the transfer market this summer, with the Brazilian failing to settle ever since his move from Atletico Madrid last year.

And Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho sees Cresswell as the perfect understudy to first-choice Cesar Azpilicueta ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Meanwhile, Man City are prioritizing English stars to boost their home-grown players quota and are targeting Cresswell as their addition.

But both clubs will be forced to look elsewhere, with the 25-year-old penning a new deal that will keep him at Upton Park until 2020.

"It's exciting times for me to pen a new deal at West Ham," he said.

"Thankfully last year was a good season for me personally to play every minute of every game, so it's nice to finally commit my future to West Ham.

"I was at Ipswich 12 months ago and when West Ham came in for me there was only one place for me.

"I jumped straight in the car, down the A12 and signed for West Ham. So for me to play for a club like West Ham, week in week out, is massive and these are exciting times.

"It's going to be a massive year for us, the last year at Upton Park. But it's exciting times going into one of the best stadiums in Europe, even in the world. It's going to be a good summer, hopefully a few more faces will come in and we'll have a good year."

Cresswell won the Hammer’s Player of the Season award last season after playing all 38 Premier League games, scoring two goals.
