Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Arsenal have all been boosted by the potential availability of Zakaria Bakkali, who has rejected PSV Eindhoven’s contract offer, Express reports.
Dubbed as the ‘next Eden Hazard’, Bakkali has attracted interest from clubs all over Europe but PSV are hoping to keep the talented youngster.
However, with just 12 months left on his contract, the Belgian is hoping to join a bigger club either during the winter transfer window or next summer, with Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund also keen on his services.
And with the 18-year-old rejecting the Eredivisie side’s latest contract, PSV could prefer to sell Bakkali in January rather than lose him for free in a year’s time.
Marcel Brands, PSV’s sporting director, has expressed his disappoint at the player’s behaviour stating: “Of course it’s bad for the club.
“But I think it’s actually worse for the player himself. It is a shame that a young player with talent does not choose the right path.
“People might think I am naive but I don’t blame the guy or his father.
“The problem is that Zakaria is getting influenced by everything and everyone around him.”
Bakkali made 22 appearances for PSV last season, scoring four goals.
